The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) has announced that 640 out of 928 candidates successfully passed the Chemical Engineers Licensure Examination, administered by the Board of Chemical Engineering. This exam was held in various locations, including the National Capital Region (NCR), Baguio, Cebu, Iloilo, Legazpi, and Lucena, in May 2024.
Among the institutions with ten or more examinees and a minimum passing rate of 80%, the University of the Philippines - Diliman and De La Salle University - Manila emerged as the top-performing schools, each achieving a perfect passing rate. The University of the Philippines - Diliman had 28 examinees, all of whom passed, resulting in a 100% success rate. Similarly, De La Salle University - Manila had 11 candidates, all of whom successfully cleared the exam, maintaining a 100% passing rate.
Other notable institutions include Cagayan State University - Tuguegarao, which had a passing rate of 92.59% with 25 out of 27 candidates passing the exam. The University of the Philippines - Visayas - Iloilo City followed closely with a 92% passing rate, as 23 out of 25 examinees succeeded. Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila had a commendable performance, with 33 out of 37 candidates passing, resulting in an 89.19% passing rate.
The University of the Philippines - Los Baños also performed well, with 22 out of 26 candidates passing the exam, translating to an 84.62% success rate. Mapua Malayan Colleges - Laguna reported that 26 out of 31 examinees passed, resulting in an 83.87% passing rate. Other institutions that achieved an 80% passing rate include Mindanao State University - Iligan Institute of Technology with 19 out of 23 passing, and both Central Philippine University and Mapua Malayan Colleges Mindanao with 8 out of 10 candidates passing.
The PRC also announced the top ten examinees who achieved the highest scores in the May 2024 Chemical Engineers Licensure Examination. Miguel Siapno Bungalon from the University of the Philippines - Los Baños topped the list with a rating of 87.30. Patrick Jay Buenviaje Garcia from Mapua University - Manila secured the second spot with a rating of 85.90. The third place went to Andrei Lan Abiog from the University of the Philippines - Diliman, who achieved a rating of 85.50.
These results underscore the high level of preparation and academic excellence demonstrated by the top-performing institutions and their examinees. The PRC's announcement is a testament to the quality of education provided by these universities and colleges, reflecting their commitment to producing competent and skilled chemical engineers who are ready to contribute to the industry.
