UPCAT for School Year 2025 - 2026 Scheduled for Nationwide Administration in August 2024

In a recent announcement from the University of the Philippines, the prestigious university system has laid out the details for the administration of its 2025 University of the Philippines College Admission Test (UPCAT). Set to take place on August 10 and 11, 2024, the UPCAT will determine which students will be admitted for the first-year batch of academic year 2025-2026.

Key Dates and Application Details

Aspiring UP students should mark their calendars for April 15, 2024, the start of the online application period. The deadline for submission of applications is a tight window, closing on May 15, 2024. Applicants are urged to prepare their documents early to ensure timely submission.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligible applicants include senior high school students expecting to graduate before the start of SY 2025-2026 from a Department of Education (DepEd)-accredited high school or an accredited secondary school abroad. Additionally, high school graduates who have not yet taken any college courses, nor previously taken the UPCAT, are eligible to apply. Important to note is that applicants must not have applied and completed the UP College Application for the academic years 2021-2024.

Test Composition and Admission Scoring

The UPCAT consists of four subtests designed to assess a range of abilities: Language Proficiency in both English and Filipino, Reading Comprehension in both languages, Science, and Mathematics. The standardized UPCAT scores are then combined with the composite of final grades from Grades 8 to 11 to formulate the University Predicted Grade (UPG). This UPG is crucial as it plays a significant role in the final admission decision.

UP's Commitment to Democratic Access

Continuing its commitment to democratic access, the University of the Philippines considers not only academic excellence but also socioeconomic and geographic factors in its comprehensive admission process. This holistic review ensures a diverse and inclusive student body, reflecting the university's mission to serve as a microcosm of the nation.
